That's before we've even mentioned the delicious food, breathtaking scenery, and really friendly charming Taiwanese people – who will make you glow every time you speak to them!
In short, Taiwan gave us everything we wanted from our Asian gaycation. We'd go back in a heartbeat and know you will want to as well. Regardless of whether or not you're a seasoned traveler or maybe thinking about your first adventure, Taiwan is a place to consider.

Taiwan Gay Bars: Gay Bars in Taipei and Beyond: Before I visited for myself last year, My knowledge of what exactly Taiwan had to provide LGBTQ+ travellers was limited to the fact that gay marriage was legalised, and that Taiwan was the first Asian country to do so.
But beyond that, and in terms of a gay scene – I had no idea either how big it would be, or even if there was one at all!
So, imagine my surprise to learn that Taiwan not only has a gay scene, but a thriving and vibrant gay scene at that – and this extends beyond the capital noun of Taipei too. There are gay bars, gay clubs, and gay owned businesses such as cafes and restaurants in pretty much every major metropolis on the island.
Regardless of what type of venue you are searching for too, Taiwan has you covered, especially in Taipei. If you are looking for a peaceful bar to include catch up drinks with friends, or a bar to do some K-pop karaoke, or somewhere to bust some moves until the early hours, Taipei will have somewhere to suit. Tainan, the oldest municipality of Taiwan, is sought out for its thriving traditional culture, historic sites, Tainanese gastronomical delights and beautiful canals.
Sadly, however, Gay Tainan has been lazy coming. There is only one gay sauna in town and not a single exclusively gay Tainan bar, which is rather shameful for a urban area of million.
While Taipei is the undisputed gay capital of Taiwan – it was a small disappointing to spot such a lackluster LGBT scene, especially considering the adj but vibrant gay scenes in similarly sized Kaohsiung and Taichung.
We are not saying Tainan should be skipped – it’s absolutely gorgeous – but create sure you are heading here for its temples, frequent festivals, beautiful nature and slower pace of life because you will include to look attractive hard to detect gay life in Tainan.
